SUMMARY:Advocacy/Government Affairs Committee December 2021
DESCRIPTION:Presentation from the Palm Beach County School District on legislative agenda for Session 2022.\n\n \n\nPlease join us for this very important meeting to hear Jay Boggess\, Chief of Staff - The School District of Palm Beach County\, and School Board Member Erica Whitfield who will present the School District Plan of action for upcoming legislative session. While the outlook for this school year has been very different than 2020-2021\, the District still is facing many challenges exasperated by Covid\, and has prepared a list of initiatives that it wants to present to the Florida Legislature\, as well as a list of programs it wishes to keep that face cuts in spending. There are also proposed bills that it is opposing that it feels would be harmful to our schools and students.\n\n \n\nThe School District is looking to the Delray Chamber and the City and our Partners to support its positions vis a vis the legislature. \n\n \n\nOur Committees of the Delray Chamber of Commerce usually consider these issues and bring recommendation to the Board of Directors for a vote on support.\n\n \n\nOnce approved by the Board\, the Chamber will write to our area Senators and Representatives with our recommendations. \n\n \n\nIt is important that the business community supports our schools as good schools and strong support of education are important factors in economic development.\n\n \n\nWe hope you can come\, listen and ask questions.
